Star of the Week
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Congratulations! It’s time for your child to shine! Your child has been chosen to be the “Star of the Week” for our classroom. We have a lot of special things planned to honor your star, so please take note of the events listed below. Please know that these are optional activities and your child may participate in any of them they feel comfortable with. We look forward to learning more about your child and making him/her feel like a STAR! If you have any questions, please let me know!
~Miss Janney
Friday Before Your Week
Your child has brought home the “Star Student” bag. Inside this bag you will find the “Star Student” poster that you and your child can complete (fill in information and color). You will also find Curious George. George is ready to celebrate this honor with your child. Please help your child write a brief description of the fun things they have done over the weekend and draw a picture to go along with it. Your child will be able to share his/her adventure with the class on Monday.
Monday
Bring in your completed “Star Student” poster along with about four photos of family, things you like to do, a baby picture, etc. (These pictures will be returned to you on Friday). You will share your poster with the class as well as your journal entry about your adventures with Curious George.
Tuesday
Show and Tell Day! Bring something to school that you would love to share with the class. We are excited to see what you bring!
Wednesday
Bring in your favorite picture book. You can read the book to your friends or ask Miss Janney to read it for you. You can even ask your parents to come in and read the book, too!
(Just e-mail/call Miss Janney in advance, please)
Thursday
Please share a tradition or special item(s) from your cultural background or bring in pictures that display some of your family's traditions. You may also bring in a book or a folk tale that is from your culture or a book that discusses some of your family's traditions.
Friday
You will be presented with a special friendship poster that includes your “Star Student” photo surrounded by special notes from your classmates.
